Saint Anne

Saint Anne, our patron played an important role in the history of world religions, particularly Christianity. Her role as the mother of Mary, grandmother of Jesus Christ a devout, humble, and a poor servant to God has always been inspiring. The life of this beautiful Saint became an inspiration to the congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne’s of Tiruchirappalli.

Mother Annammal

With the motto of Love, Prayer, and Service it was founded by a holy and pious widow, Mother Annammal [SERVANT OF GOD] with the blessings of the patron’s St. Anne and Joachim in the year 1858. ‘The lamp burns, not to be the light itself, but to spread positive brightness and dispel darkness.’ St. Anne stands on the hilltop as a beacon of light, with a unique purpose for uplifting the social status of marginalized and destitute young women particularly widows. At present, more than 1,000 sisters are carrying on their mission by their committed service under the Generalate in the field of education and social service with the charism Simplicity in life and Service to the poor for the betterment of society.

St. Anne’s Convent School and Junior College, a minority institution established in the year 1998 is administered by the Catholic Diocese of Vasai, a charitable society. This is a private unaided Christian institution catering to the educational needs of all communities. The year 1998 was a historic year in which a few parents expressed their confidence in the sisters of St. Anne’s by registering and expressing their willingness to entrust their wards in this upcoming school. With the hearts of the humble sisters filled with good intentions, the vision of imparting education to classes from Nursery to Sr. K.G had begun by converting flats in the co-operative society to classroom.

The management spared no efforts in building an enviable architectural structure under the guidance of Mother General. The congregation of St. Anne’s has been involved in the beautiful mission of education to live up to the lofty ideals and goals that underline St. Anne’s vision and mission. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on the love of God and service to mankind.
